This course consists of a 2.5-hour interactive workshop
This training session is designed to support professionals in recognising and responding effectively to cases of self-neglect. Through a combination of discussion, case studies, and practical tools.
This is an excellent opportunity to learn alongside multi-agency colleagues and network.
Learning outcomes
You will learn:
- Recognise self-neglect.
- Conduct systematic assessment of self-neglect.
- Distinguish how to respond to self-neglect, including when to refer to Social Work.
- Conduct assessment of decision-making ability.
- Identify actions to take where there are concerns around decision-making ability with adults at risk of harm.
- Identify where to seek held and support regarding the use of the tools included in the training.
Who should attend this training
This workshop is designed to equip general workforce staff with the knowledge and confidence to recognise and respond appropriately to signs of self-neglect in individuals they may encounter in their roles.
For example:
- Acute hospital staff
- Third sector staff
- Care home staff
- housing providers and homeless staff
- social work staff
- care providers
- OT's and other allied professionals
- third sector colleagues
- community nurses
- GP's
It is also suitable for emergency service staff such as police, SAS and SFRS.
