Learning outcomes
This training will:
- support you to recognise the contribution you can make to improving children’s wellbeing, welfare and safety
- build your understanding of multi‑agency roles and responsibilities in protecting children and young people
- help you to recognise indicators of harm or risk, understand the impact on children, and know what to do if you are worried about a child or young person
Who should attend this training
This training is suitable for staff in the specific workforce category who have direct contact with children and young people and/or other family members.
This includes, for example:
- GPs
- youth support workers
- drug and alcohol services
- domestic abuse services
- services for communities
- adult social services
- housing providers and homelessness staff
- some education staff
The training is also suitable for emergency service staff such as Police, Scottish Ambulance Service (SAS) and Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS).

We will confirm by email whether you have been successful in securing a place. If you are unsuccessful, this will be due to the maximum participant number being reached. There will be further opportunities to attend this training in the future.
Once your place is confirmed, it is a mandatory requirement to inform us if you can no longer attend and to provide the reason. This is due to the significant preparation involved in delivering multi‑agency training and helps us to maximise attendance.
If you are unable to attend, you may wish to nominate another member of staff from your department to attend in your place. If you do this, please let us know by email.
