Domestic Abuse and DASH RIC Training

Event overview

This half-day training session is designed to strengthen professional understanding of domestic abuse, coercive control, and risk assessment processes. It will support practitioners in identifying and responding to high-risk cases through the use of the DASH RIC (Domestic Abuse, Stalking and Honour-Based Abuse Risk Identification Checklist).

Participants will also gain insight into the role and function of Multi-Agency Risk Assessment Conferences (MARAC), with a focus on local procedures and partnership working.

Learning outcomes

By the end of the session, participants will:

  • develop a deeper understanding of domestic abuse and coercive control
  • learn how to effectively use the DASH RIC tool
  • understand the MARAC process and how it operates locally

Who should attend

This training is aimed at staff within the general, specific, and intensive workforce, particularly those who have direct contact with children, young people, or other family members. This includes professionals such as:

  • GPs, youth support workers, social workers, housing and homelessness staff
  • health visitors, school nurses, adult social care staff
  • staff from domestic abuse services, drug and alcohol services, and community services
  • emergency services personnel (Police, SAS, SFRS)
