What you will learn
You will:
- have increased their awareness of the risks to children and young people associated with parental substance use and the impact on their development, their safety and wellbeing
- have heightened awareness of the need to listen to the experiences of children and young people from their own perspectives
- feel more able to identify children and young people whose experiences may be more hidden
- have become familiar with the Dumfries and Galloway GOPR guide and toolkit and how to use it in practice
- have a better awareness of a whole systems and whole family approach
Who should attend
This training is suitable for all practitioners and managers working with children, young people and their families within the public, private and third sectors across Dumfries and Galloway.
It is particularly for all those practitioners and managers within education and children’s services, adult services, health and/or alcohol and drugs services who are working with children, young people and families affected by problematic alcohol and/or drug use.

After you book
We will confirm in an email whether you are successful or not gaining a spot onto this training. If you have been unsuccessful this time it is due to the training number cap. If you are unsuccessful there will be another opportunity to attend this training in the future.
Once your position is confirmed on our training, it is a mandatory requirement to let us know if you can no longer attend our multi-agency training and the reason why. This is due to the fact our Multi-Agency training attracts significant preparation time, and we would like to maximise attendance.
